As the lightning descended, it twisted and turned, dancing in the sky like a beautiful woman, filling the air with coldness and killing intent. Twin beams of bright green light streak from her eyes, striking into the center of the line of soldiers even as they let loose with a deafening fusillade of automatic weapon fire. Kai unleashes his arrow, which buries itself into the medusa’s right eye, extinguishing one of the green beams. A moment later, one of the flamethrowers erupts, covering the medusa in a stream of liquid yellow fire. The creature lets out an ear-splitting howl as she is consumed by the flames and falls lifeless to the ground.

I felt like a queen who had finally found her crown. "Seraphina!" I screamed. The scaled woman turned, her violet eyes widening. She raised her trident, charging a massive ball of black lightning. "You should have stayed in your cage, Lyra! Now you die in the ocean!" She launched the attack. The black bolt roared across the water, turning the waves into steam. I didn't dodge. I raised my hands, and a shield of pure gold erupted from my palms. The black lightning hit the shield and shattered into harmless sparks.
