The Blazing Lights is one of the biggest clubs there is on the earth. So, it was going to be more fun than all the other times we went out clubbing. The first thing I see once entering the club is the sweating bodies dancing to loud, bass-filled music. The bright, blinding, strobe lights illuminate the otherwise pitch-black club. I guess that’s why they call it The Blazing Lights.

It popped free of its socket and I dropped it into the open bag at my feet. I squinted, the eye scorching light from the other bulbs making the pools of shadow beside us difficult to see. Host-less Shades stayed hidden during the lighter hours, even beneath their violet sky, but that didn't mean you wouldn't come across the occasional desperado, willing to risk everything for a shot at owning human flesh. I dropped the piece of clothing that protected the new bulb into the bag and paused, frozen by the shiver running down my spine. "What's wrong?" Aaron called from the front.

I felt my body thaw as I rubbed my jaw, happy to be able to move again. “Okay… so cool, new power. But never do that shit again.” Persephone frowned. Crista blinked, oblivious to what she’d done. “And, of course, you didn’t know you did it. We don’t know what Light can do but maybe not tap into her power to use on the family,” Persephone grumbled.

I stepped inside hesitantly. “Lightning is always bringing in new slaves. When will he get tired?” she sighed. Lightning. That was his name. It sounded rich and dangerous. She turned sharply to me. “But never has he asked me to prepare a room for one.” I shifted on my toes. Should I be glad a monster like Lightning was giving me special treatment? My instincts told me it was for his own benefit. Once he was done with me, I’d be discarded, given to his warriors, or killed.

But the phoenix within her fully ignited, absorbed the lightning with her bare hands. As lightning surged through her fingertips, she concentrated its power, shaping it within her hands like a volatile storm. The crackling energy intensified, growing in strength and ferocity until it became an unstoppable force. With a final surge of determination, she unleashed the electric fury upon Marienne, who was hurled backward, colliding with the unforgiving crystal wall.

I know the thunder can feel the new power pulsing through our bond to the thunder. I pump my fist into the sky and whoop with happiness. Adrian roared, his voice getting dangerously low at the end glaring at Lily. He sat down to watch as their torment. Instantly, Tinh Ngoc ran towards it, she wanted to pull herself into his warm embrace, and wanted to be loved and patted by him like she had been in the past.
