Gabriel smiled and walked away, knowing that people behind him were discussing him. Melanie stayed in place for a while. She had always been someone who was daring, and when she fell in love, she was reckless. Even if she lost, she was willing to bear the consequences. She felt she could afford to lose. But she had always overlooked the fact that the reason she could be so fearless was that she always had a few true friends around her, willing to go through fire and water for her. Elora’s pov "Elora! It’s been ages since you called." Melanie said. I had known her as Petal, but when we found her real family, she started using the name given to her by her parents. "I’m sorry. I’ve been going through something, and it made me realize that I might have pushed people away unknowingly." Melanie nodded. I loved how clearly I could see her through the camera; it was like she was here. "Was it because of that new friend you made? Eli?"

Caleb tells her and she just nods understandingly. Melanie doesn’t try to refuse him even though she hasn’t considered the possibility of getting married again after her marriage with Alex Sinclair was dissolved as a result of her breaking up with him. Since then the thought of marriage started scaring her because she almost committed her entire life and future to somebody that turned out to be the wrong choice for her and she is glad that she broke up with Alex because marrying a man like that would have been the biggest mistake of her life. “Hey…are you okay?” Caleb asks as he places his hand on Melanie’s shoulder, and that drags her out of her train of thought.

In a flash, he had a playful smile and a dark light in his eyes. “What a coincidence! Aren’t you an old acquaintance?” Miles’ “old acquaintance” was said with gritted teeth. Melanie was dressed up nicely as she happily accepted everyone’s envy and blessing. There were many women around rich young men like Colton White, but only a few could successfully rise to the top. This was the story Melanie often told anyone that bothered to ask. This was also what she would like to believe. That they had died the day she was abandoned at her grandmother’s doorstep. “Oh. Her voice showed how scared she was. Melanie was a woman who had been born on the outskirts of New York; she had married Albert out of love, and they were together to this day, firm and strong despite everything. They had a couple of beautiful children and a good life, but despite all this, no one could escape prejudice when it reached the person; the same was happening to them. She shyly said, “I’ve already stopped them for you as a token of loyalty. If you stay loyal, I guarantee you that you’ll be protected!” Melanie’s face lit up with glee. “Thank you so much, Butler Evans!
