I wanted to argue, to fight him, but my throat closed up. My hands shook as I clung to the edge of his jacket. My heart thudded painfully in my chest.
Jared swung, his fist grazing Hayden’s jaw with a sickening thud. Hayden stumbled, recovered, then tackled him to the ground again. They rolled across the shattered floor, hitting the wall hard enough to make the wooden beams groan.
