I Said, Leaving Once in the library, I went to get a book on behavioral psychology and started reading it on the spot. An hour later, as I was lost in my thoughts, I started thinking about Nate again. About his hand gripping my arm and him pleading with me not to say anything... I looked around me and saw students holding books on the supernatural. That's when it occurred to me to take a look at the books on supernatural creatures. "Vampires, Jinns, Ghosts... Damn it."

I CHECKED OVER THE list that Auth had given me of this week's tasks, making sure I had done all of them. I had just finished returning a monster to its book after it had escaped. Usually, something like that wouldn’t be my priority; however, the monster had somehow managed to get into another book. It had caused some damage to the book and nearly killed one of the main characters while it was there. Having failed to find the monster before it was seen, it was now in the book. It was a good thing I wasn’t seen, otherwise Auth couldn’t have written it off since I don’t exactly fit the theme of the book.

“Were these any help, detective?” “I’m afraid not,” I said, defeated. I was in a bit of a daze after staring at projected newsprint on the dim screen. I leaned on the desk and looked around the building absentmindedly until my eyes finally settled on a small sign hanging on a table covered with a neat stack of books. “Warning: The Library is Not Responsible for Nightmares!” I read out loud, walking over to look at the books. Well-worn volumes with pink skulls grinning back at me from stickers on their spines. Dracula. Frankenstein. The Invisible Man.

I could hear the murmmurings from the crowd, it felt like, they were anxious and suprised, glasses started to break from all angles, the lights, went out, the whole place went dark and the moon suddenly came and lit it up. The process was long Andi could hear, people yelling and murmmuring from a far distance. It was cracking, it felt magical and real, "Hi Fiona! I'm Mia!", I heard this voice and it came from my head, like my thoughts, who is Mia?. I felt like I was getting bigger and bigger, my clothes started to tear, and that was it, coming as an explosion, a white mist covered the whole place and the look on everyone's face was sort of, suprising.

Toying with someone's mind and keeping them in my palm was what hooked me. When I was in school, I chose to live in the dorms whenever possible, just to shape the people around me. The dorm I lived in during middle school was never at peace. Sudden injuries and even deaths kept happening. I drifted among them, watching their families weighed down by pain, guilt, and grief, and I felt a rush like nothing I had felt before. When we were assigned dorm rooms in college, the moment I first saw Jacob, I knew that he was just like me, a natural-born sociopath. But he was my prey.

It’s like heaven on earth.” The corner of Dante’s lips twitched. “The best part is that more than half of the books are horror, thriller and paranormal.” “No fricken way!” My jaw dropped, and I held back the girlie squeal that hung in my throat. And I thought this place couldn’t get any better.

She raised her hand and with her index finger she brushed the books, reading their titles. There were some that said "satanic pacts" others like "the call of the devil" "the forest and its hidden side" "small town legends" "werewolves and the full moon" and the last one said "Wisconsin Cases". Camila took out that last one, the book was big, it had a red cover with the image of the town itself. But that image was in black and white, as if it was taken years ago.
