Broken by One, Desired by All
I expected the dorm to be empty, everyone asleep at this hour, but the second I stepped inside, I heard the soft rustle of pages turning.
Charlie was still awake.
He was sprawled on the couch, a book in one hand, a half-eaten sandwich in the other, his dark hair tousled, his eyes bright with amusement as he looked up at me. “You’re back,” he said, his voice dry. “Took you long enough. I was starting to think you’d decided to live in the training grounds.”
I groaned, collapsing onto the couch beside him with all the grace of a sack of bricks. “I wish,” I muttered, rubbing my face, my fingers scraping over the stubble on my jaw. “What are you still doing up?”
