Falling for my Saviour
None of it did.
Almost without realizing, I started to hum. My voice was small, unsteady. The melody came from somewhere I couldn’t remember, a song that seemed older than my memories, something that had always lived in me.
“Sleep, little one, the night is kind,
Close your eyes, leave fear behind,
The world can wait, the dark will fade,
I’m here, my love, I will stay.”
The words spilled out like a memory half-remembered, half-invented. My voice trembled, but the sound soothed me. For a moment, the panic eased, and I let myself sink into the quiet.
