I respond with a smirk of my own, closing the boxes. "Clever," I say, "Enjoy your cookies, Mr. Adams." He glances at my name tag and nods approvingly. "That works." With boxes in hand, he exits the shop, leaving behind a parting wink. I offer a friendly shake of my head. Boys. Afterward, I check a text message from Avery that had arrived a few minutes before closing time:

Throwing on my nude heels and some jewellery to compliment my outfit, I walk out of our suite to hunt down my mate. I walk down the stairs and through the lobby, catching the scent of delicious cookies coming from the kitchens. I detour in and swipe a cookie while the cooks pretend to look away. Smiling I say thank you before I turn around and leave. Mmm this cookie is delicious – chocolate peanut butter … one of my favourites. I am beginning to realize anything with chocolate and peanut butter combined is my all-time favourite.

"Holy crap." "Just wait." I rub my hands together and sit up in my chair. The Cookie is a giant chocolate chip warm cookie with chunks of Reese's peanut butter cups baked in. It's served in a small cast iron skillet topped with a scoop each of vanilla and peanut butter ice cream. And if that wasn't enough, chopped peanuts, more Reese's, and drizzles of hot fudge cover the deliciousness. The rest of the desserts don't even matter as we pick up our spoons and dive in.

“Chocolate Chip Cookies. They have chips flavored in three kinds of chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter, and butterscotch.” She pulled a cookie from the folds of a napkin arranged to keep them warm. “They’re for the person who can’t make up her mind.” Mackenzie studied the cookie as Judi placed it in her hand. “Too bad you can’t do the same thing with men… bake them all into a single cookie, so you don’t have to pick just one.” With her eyes wide, Mackenzie stared at the older woman. “I don’t have any men to pick from.” Judi tucked a stray curl back into her scarf.

Kace asked in amusement. “Yes. Mom helped me.” She handed her a cookie. “Try it, Kace.” “You know what I like to do when eating a cookie?” Kace asked her, as he got hold of the glass of milk. Chantelle shook her head. “I don’t know.” She smiled and dipped the cookie into the milk. “Dip and eat!” She placed the whole cookie in her mouth and munched it. “Woah! I’d like to try that too,” she said with delight. “Chandler does that often.”

“So much… warmth.” “It’s because the heat works,” Michael offered, sitting cross-legged on the floor like an interviewer. “Mm,” Gina said, unsure of how to react to that. Mex leaned against the armchair, arms folded, “What kind of cookies did you bring?”, he asked, “and do they contain hidden raisins?” Gina brightened, “Chocolate chip. With a little sea salt.” “Acceptable,” Mex commented seriously.

I grin picking up the food, throwing fluttering lashes of adoration at him with a grin. “I clearly do … I even bought you this.” Arrick pulls a bag from his jacket pocket, a flat, striped paper bag I don’t recognize and take it from him. Opening carefully, I realize it contains a wrapped cookie in rainbow colors with a sticker that reads. Magical Unicorn Cookie It’s a colorful, chocolate and candy stuffed cookie in supersize and looks like he brought it back with him from wherever they were today. My heart does a happy little skip and almost melts with the gooeyness of how incredibly cute he can be when I least expect it.
