‘She thinks she won. The room slowly quietened as the ceremony began. Julia turned towards the pack and lifted her chin, soaking in every second of it. The elder stepped forward, holding his hands together in front of him. “Silver Moon has stood for generations because every Alpha who leads it has had wolves willing to stand beside him.” His voice carried through the room. “But a Luna is more than the woman standing beside her Alpha.” Julia stood straighter. “A Luna belongs to her pack. Their safety becomes her safety. Their children become her responsibility. Their pain becomes hers.” The elder turned to Julia. “Julia, do you understand what is being asked of you today?”

It simply pooled and gathered, waiting for someone else to command it forward. A soft knock startled me upright. Before I could answer, the door opened again - but this time, it wasn’t Mistress Orion, nor either of the attendants. A young woman slipped inside, no older than twenty-five, dressed in the plain blue uniform I’d seen downstairs. Not Athena-blue, but servant-blue. Her hair was tied back in a messy braid, dark curls escaping around her temples. She carried a folded bundle of fabric in her arms. Her eyes flicked to the collar, then to the faint marks beneath the shift. She looked away quickly. “I’m Mira,” she said, voice low but steady. “The Luna sent me.”

I looked back to the times when I had nearly gone mad from the pressure, “But fear has never stopped me from moving forward.” Nyra smiled behind Mira. “That’s why our Luna is always on the front lines. She’s someone you couldn’t find even if you searched every corner of the earth.” Mira chuckled softly. “Well, I’m the lucky witch who met Luna Lyara when I was at my lowest point.”

Luna's face transformed with such pure joy that my heart ached. "She made a noise. Did you hear? She's so perfect." Luna looked up at me, tears streaming down her face. "Mama, she's so perfect and tiny, and I love her already." We have to find her before she falls in danger.” Toby’s word pulled out of my trance.

Miranda sighed and adjusted herself on the bed. “Luna Aurora. She was the Luna of the Grey moon pack. But she died two weeks after that night. She got shot by a dark witch‘s poisoned arrow, and after much suffering, and not responding to any treatment, she died." Miranda paused, searching Audrey's face before she continued.
