She was somewhere around seven or eight, completely absorbed in whatever she was drawing, her tongue pressed to the corner of her mouth in concentration. I lowered myself carefully into a chair near her, mindful of my ribs, and looked at the paper. The drawing was full. Not in a crowded way, in a deliberate way, like she had a clear picture in her head and was working her way across the page with intention. Lucas said, forcing a smile as he turned to her. Miracle tilted her head, her wide eyes darting between me and Lucas. “Why are you sitting so close?” Lucas chuckled, though his laugh sounded forced. “We were just talking,” he said smoothly. I nodded, praying she wouldn’t ask any more questions. “What’s that you’ve got there?” I asked, pointing to the paper in her hands. “It’s a drawing!” she exclaimed, climbing onto the bed to show me. As Miracle babbled about her artwork, Lucas stood and straightened his shirt. “I’ll leave you two,” he said, his tone returning to its usual composed calmness.

There was a small pencil by the side which made it easier to locate. I gently picked it out, checking out the pages. I opened the last page, and I saw the greatest pencil drawing of my entire life. “This is a sunflower, isn't it?” I mumbled to myself, checking if there was another drawing. Her attention to detail was insanely amazing. She barely had any instruments, yet she made something so magnificent. It was truly mind blowing. I caught Mira’s scent walking in, so I gently placed the book back in its place like I never touched it, and I moved over to another space to select a new book.

She had no plans of leaving. She opened her bag and brought out a file containing the project she was working on. It was a total of ten drafts and three final sketches she had drawn within an approximate of two days. The first two drafts were pretty messy but she began achieving what her expected sketches from the third draft. She first presented two pictures that that given her inspiration to the woman. The first picture was that of a lady standing opposite a mirror from which there was a hand presenting to her a red flower that was slowly melting to blood. Bewitched by the mirror, the lady stretched forth her hand to take the melting flower.

My heart warmed. Liam ran from his playroom when he heard my voice. "Mabel!" He crashed into my legs, hugging tight. "Hi, sweetheart." I picked him up. Five years old and getting heavy. "What have you been doing today?" "Drawing! Come see!" He wriggled down and pulled me to the playroom. The floor was covered in drawings. Crayon masterpieces of stick figures and houses and dogs. "This one's you," he said, holding up a picture. A woman with long dark hair and a big smile. "And this one's Mommy. And this one's me."

Fabian was slightly stunned but he understood her intention from her beautiful, huge eyes. “Is this for me?” Fabian asked gently. Lillian blinked her huge eyes and nodded gently. Fabian took the card happily and carefully opened it. Within it was a drawing. The drawing depicted a tall boy and a small girl, clearly him and Lillian. Lillian’s drawing was very childlike; the contour of the persons was also childishly drawn, and even the colors used were not anything refined.

I whispered to myself. But my hands had already moved. Inside the package was a single sheet of paper, folded once. No note. No explanation. Just a drawing. My breath left me in a sharp, broken exhale. It was done in crayon. Bold lines. Messy edges. A child’s certainty in every stroke. A woman stood at the center of the page, her arms raised. I order and watch the boys run back towards the building as fast as they can. I watch with concern as the young boy they were picking on sniffs and works to pick up pieces of his sketchbook. I bend down and help him pick up the remaining pieces before they’re carried off by the wind. I look at one of the pieces of paper and can’t contain the awe on my face as I take in the amazing sketch before me. It’s this incredible real-life style drawing of a sirna with a vibrant red tail surrounded by all the elements. It takes me a second to recognise the likeness, but this is a sketch of the God Ezillus as a sirna! This might be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. “You drew this?” I ask in astonishment

It will be like a storybook!” Leo nodded enthusiastically. “Let’s do it! I can’t wait to draw the storm scene and the family’s connection with the spirits.” Elara’s fingers danced across her sketchbook as she began to create vibrant images inspired by their words.
