Yet something about it felt familiar. Mira crouched beside the book. I stayed standing. Her eyes narrowed. "That's weird." "What is?" She pointed. The figure's face. At first I didn't understand. Then I looked again. And my stomach tightened.

I promised while wrapping my arm around her. "I know," Mira said softly. She did not sound convinced and her tiny fingers continued to work frantically on the sketch. I shifted my weight on the rug and leaned over to see what she was drawing so intensely. My breath hitched in my throat and a cold wave of dread washed over my skin. She wasn't drawing a stray cat or a flower or a cartoon character. She drew a rough outline of a tall man wearing a sharp suit with dark hair falling over his forehead. The sketch was childish but the harsh jawline and the intense eyes were undeniably familiar.
