She gave us both a gift.” Elara smiled, brushing Mira’s hair back. “Rina has always been light. She hides her own pain, but she still gives hope. We owe her everything.” For a long moment, the two girls sat in silence, watching Mira try again to stand. She pushed up on her small legs, wobbled, then fell back into Elara’s lap. “She will be great one day,” Neri said suddenly. “Do you not see it? She is not like other children. There is something in her eyes, something bright. She will have a gift when she grows. I feel it in my heart.”

There was no one else with or around him. “Ms. Scarlet, Niko Powell,” Niko said as he got up with a bright smile, a lustful gaze, and a friendly handshake. Miru surprised him. He had not seen Miru in person before this, not even through a picture. Even though he knew a rich family like the Hidens had filtered multiple generations to ensure their offspring carried the best genes, he was still in awe of Miru’s looks. Even with his experience with women, Miru could be considered one of the most beautiful.

Mother Mary explained to Mirabel, who was staring at the Laki sand. She walked to a round stone table in the middle of the room and pressed her hand into the interior of the table, causing the inner part of the table to go in and shortly reveal a round orb that was emitting a dense blue light. "What is that?" Mirabel asked as she walked forward to stand beside Mother Mary at the table. "It's the Blue Miracle." Mother Mary smiled as she spoke and stared at the blue orb. "The Blue Miracle." Mirabel nodded as she repeated, completely clueless as to what the Blue Miracle was.

Her eyes scan the whole library before it lands on Mira and I. Mira jerks me in the elbow so hard. “Shit, I think she’s coming to us, don’t you know who she is? She’s Nixie Coral; every dude here will literally die to talk to her.” Mira is whispering a little too loudly that when Nixie reaches us, there’s a tiny smile on her lips. “Hello.” She says a little too breathlessly, I look at her jean clad legs....Those legs were a tail yesterday, I need to snap out of this.

I know about all this because I asked Mildred. I waited for the fighters to get ready. With Mildred's help, I was able to sneak in without being detected. I secretly entered the circle; I knew that I couldn't be sent back if I did that. I turned to see a fuming Nicholas, a surprised Alpha Leo, an irritated Austin, and a murmuring crowd. Nick was giving me the death stare. I ignored him. "I, Mira Constance, a former slave and now a wolf from the Crescent Pack, wish to partake in this contest. I challenge him," I said, turning immediately to point at a bulky fighter.

~~~ The flight to Noble Landing was short but like I wanted, or maybe it was my mind speeding things up. When we landed, I drove straight to the main house. Nino was in his sitting room. He looked smaller than the last time I saw him. And frailer. The lines on his face were deeper, and his shoulders were slightly slumped as he sat in the large armchair with a blanket over his lap. His hands trembled slightly when he reached for his tea. He smiled when he saw me, but it didn’t hide the tiredness in his eyes. “MacMillan,” he said, and this time I wasn't angry he used the name. “Good of you to come on such short notice.”

No common person would have such courage. Before Mr. Joker could finish speaking, Micah cut him off in a low voice, "There are some things you don’t need to say and I won’t think you’re mute for staying silent." Anyone willing to risk everything for Nina could only be Nash. From the moment he saw Nina wearing that string of green beads, Micah had investigated her thoroughly. He knew about Nash and that Wilfred had once been close to Nina, as well as Scarlett, who had been separated from her.

“Nico is your son? That little firecracker who’s always ready to put everyone in their place with just a glare?” Zarina’s eyes twinkle with affection at my words. “That’s my Nico. I swear he’s Mir part 2.” I chuckle despite the ache in my chest. Now that I think about it, I can see the similarities. Shit, I can’t believe I didn’t make that connection sooner. “I won’t lie, he’s pretty intense for a kid of his age,” I try to joke, but there’s some truth to it, and the way her lips twitch, I can tell she knows that too. “But he’s adorable nonetheless.”

Just damn smile, will ya? Nova clasped her hands slowly, her gentle eyes perfectly tickling around them, "This is a miracle, honestly, I just thought you were unable to love someone, so, I tried to hit you up with Miranda, seeing you now happy with Zoey. I feel like a proud parent." She sniffled, her hands wiping away that fake tear in her cheek. You know, that fake tear that adult portrayed to show they were happy, thinking they were wiping it with their hands, but instead.. Oh gosh.

I guess it left a bitter taste in my mouth. I sighed in pleasure, biting my lip to resist the urge to release any sound when Miracle wrapped her soft hands around me. She started pumping me to life and hell it didn't take long. Not with the innocent yet mischievous smile she has while looking at me with those gorgeous eyes that resemble the sky above and the sea below. "Why don't we make a deal? If you make any sound, we will stop this." She whispered to me, sending a delicious chill down my spine.
