I needed a mirror. ​The Resonance Mirror was not a piece of glass in the traditional sense. It was a localized, high-density field of inverted solar gold, suspended between four pillars of resonant copper I had salvaged from the Iron City’s old telegraph lines. In theory, the mirror would not reflect an image, but a frequency. If the Shadow Thread attempted to mimic Winnie’s voice or her light, the mirror would catch the vibration, flip it, and reveal the jagged, discordant reality underneath. It was a trap designed for a liar. It was a mathematical net for a creature that lived in the gaps between truths.

“If we redirect their attacks into the mirrors, maybe we can disrupt them!” As Logan’s clone sent a bolt of magic his way, he dodged at the last second, letting the spell hit a nearby mirror. The mirror maze was perfectly built, one needed to touch the glass surface to identify between the wall and the door as it reflects everything. Everyone enjoyed the maze and was amused to find the door to exit which was soundproofed. So no one can hear others except the people who are with them. The moment we entered inside, we were blinded by lights. It took me a few seconds to adjust to the light. “What's that?” I asked as I looked at the blue glass revolving in one corner. He looked at me “Not many can handle that” he said. “What is that?” I repeated. “Mirror of future” he said to me. My eyes widened. “Can I check that?” I asked him. “If you are strong enough to face it” he replied instead. “I see” “I will check it out” If I am here, I have to give it a try.

“I would never” “You already have. You feed on righteousness, but you burn like her. You call it power. But it’s echo. Just like Vaelith.” “No.” “Yes. That’s the secret of the Mirror: every reflection can become you, if you stare long enough.” Aria clenched her fists. “I didn’t come for riddles. I came to destroy her.” The mirror-self shook her head. “Then you’re not ready.” “Then what am I supposed to do?”

Every tree, every rock, every gust of wind seemed to whisper of dangers lurking just beyond the horizon. Lia’s wrist-mark had been flaring with more intensity over the past few days, the power within her growing stronger, and yet more volatile. The strange "Mirror Soul" ability—this gift, or curse—was becoming harder to control. Every time she replicated magic, it drained her energy, leaving her weak and vulnerable. But she couldn’t stop. The Heart of the Greykin was still out there, and it was the only hope for her people. At least, that’s what she kept telling herself.

I followed. The room was smaller than the others, lit only by a single overhead spotlight and the faint spill of light from the main hall. Shards of mirror covered three of the four walls in jagged, deliberate patterns. Some pieces reflected fragments of our bodies; others showed nothing but darkness. The effect was disorienting, like stepping into a kaleidoscope made of broken glass. The door clicked shut behind us. Elaine turned to face me. Her dress shimmered faintly in the fractured light. She looked like something half-real, half-reflection.
