She stepped closer and smiled at us. “I am so glad that you are alright your Highness,” she muttered and when she looked up at me, I smiled back at her. She gasped when she noticed the fairies. “They’re… they’re like little stars,” she said, her words soft and wobbly like she was caught between awe and tears. She reached out, her fingers trembling, not quite touching the fairy-like she was scared it’d vanish. But then her eyes met mine, and I saw the question there, the one I’d been dreading since we stepped through the portal because I knew every fae knew who Sumani was. “You saw Sumani but where is she? Maddie said breathlessly before she slightly leaned to get a closer look at the fairy. She can't help but smile seeing the tiny creature. It is much more beautiful than what she imagined a fairy would look like.
