The grimoire turned out to be the largest book Cassandra had ever seen, with pages made of parchment illuminated with tracery, and it was open to a page thickly covered with elegant, intricate writing.

It was a fleeting moment of hesitation, but it was enough to confirm my suspicion - the dead Necromancer had indeed been their leader.

I grinned and turned to look at Veronica who was looking very confused. "Why are you two looking at each other like that?" She asked."We were discussing" I said and her frown deepened. "In your minds?" She pressed further. "That's right" "Okay, what did you two come up with then?" "We have a necromancer" I said and she narrowed her eyes. "It's very rare to find a real necromancer. Do I know the person? Who is it?" she asked.I gave her a smug look. "Me"

"Did you really not have to kill anyone to gain your power? Like for Necromancers in general, not just you." His question caught me off guard. Why was he stuck on this killing thing? Did they all think we were a bunch of mindless killers? "John, Necromancy isn't something you can buy. It's something we're born with, and I've never heard of a Necromancer taking a life - at least, not outside of the war." He still had that calculating look in his eyes, but our time was up. I watched his dad and the other figures take aim, raising their arms and pointing in our direction.
