Alice huffed and hung her head low. She was going in the opposite direction as Vincent, and she was going to miss her opportunity to see him again. Alice cursed the universe for ruining yet another chance. She was already feeling sick and feverish from not seeing the man she liked. Her mother was to blame mostly for ruining her chances. It has been three days since she was in proximity with Vincent. She wondered if he missed her as much as she did him. Defeated with her eyes still cast down, she walked outside before she impacted with the wall. Not a wall. Walls don't hold out their hands after impact.

Thank God. It's still early, but I'm sick of father's attitude toward this whole mating thing. I get that he wants me to mate someone successful, but I should have a choice. I am the one who has to spend the rest of my life in his presence after all. It's not a long walk before I make it to Missy's. I had dumped my dress there earlier, so no matter what, father had to let me go. Missy is a good friend. She helped me out back in High School, and even though she doesn't know me like Landon does, she's still super cool and easy to talk with.

She gently pats my head, "I hope one day you find a love like that." Before she leaves, I asked, "And you?" She flinches as I continued, "Have you found a love like that?" She didn't look back at me but her voice cracks, she must've been crying as she replied, "I did even though he never saw me like that. I'm okay with being just a substitute, I guess I'm not that different from her. I'm sorry for that."

She looked at me and smiled sadly. "Let's just say that Brandon who is my husband, is not the Romeo for me who's ready to die for his Juliet" she answered poetically.
