Novel & Cerita Missed Communication

At first, there’s nothing. Then I realize the “Recently Deleted” folder has been cleared. No trace. Like it never happened. Except—I know it did. My mind races. I open my messaging app, checking for old notifications, anything. Eventually, in a quiet corner of my inbox, I find a single, fragmented notification buried deep in my system log: [Missed call – Knoxx Wayne – 9:46 PM.] My breath catches. It was five days ago. I never saw it. Because someone erased it.

Opened Jackson's contact. Still just that one message from two weeks ago. *I'm sorry.* I typed a response. *Me too.* Deleted it. Typed again. *Can we talk?* Deleted that too. Finally settled on: *I miss you.* My thumb hovered over send.

Nox asked. Missed calls, text messages, and emails made their presence known. I'd been so overwhelmed by Nox's presence and his nicer attitude, that I'd forgotten about my conversation with Bryce—that was until his name appeared on my screen. Ignoring it, I replied, "I missed two calls from her mother. I'm going to call her now."

Are you okay? Me: Yeah, I'm great. Sorry I've been missing your calls, work has been busy. Bethany: Oh, that's good to hear. Honestly, I thought you were mad at me again. Me: I'm not. I paused, mulling over my next words but then decided to go through with it. Me: Actually, a lot of things have been happening and I need to talk to someone. The message was read immediately but I didn't a get a response until then minutes later.

“Cadence?” “Sorry, Sis. Nothing. My message didn’t go through, and they didn’t send one either. Did you get anything on your IAC?” “Son of a bitch,” Cassidy muttered. “No. Nothing.” Falling backward onto her pillow, Cadence took deep breaths and tried to remind herself that there had to be a good explanation for this. She held her phone up in front of her face one more time as the other people waiting to hear from her started pinging her IAC. “I’m sorry, but something went wrong this time. Nothing came through.”

I had left her 10 messages which she read but didn’t reply and 15 missed calls. What if she was actually sick? What if she didn’t have anyone to take care of her? What if she needed help? And why the fuck had Omar not responded? Checking his DM, I notice the red indicator next to my message. Not delivered. It never sent. This has to be a joke. Was this some sort of fucked up sign from the universe or something? I couldn’t take it anymore. Getting my keys and heading for my car, I drive straight to meadows apartment.

(Adrian) It didn't unfold. It hit. Seventeen missed calls in the time it had taken me to end the call with Jolene and walk twelve feet down the corridor. Board members. Legal. My head of communications. Three numbers I didn't recognise. Marcus twice. Maya once, which meant she'd already moved past calling and onto something else. The notifications were still stacking. I stood in the corridor and watched them arrive and didn't answer any of them and took thirty seconds to think before I did anything else.

Even if we weren't in an official relationship, we had to work out our problems by communicating as adults should. Exhaling the remains of anger, I turned to the coffee table and noticed a text message on my other phone's screen. It was from the delivery company. The message had been sent more than thirty minutes ago. Shit. They must have sent it when I was in the middle of moving the furniture around the apartment. I cleared my throat and quickly made the call. “We tried to contact you, Ms. Hill, but no one answered,” said a courier. “I'm sorry. I thought you would call instead of texting—”

"If you finish your social engagement, just go to the apartment and wait for me. I will help a friend see a doctor and then come back. My friend hasn't arrived yet." After the message was sent, Kendrick immediately made a phone call. However, the receiver was filled with crackling static noise. Annabelle didn't know if it was a problem with her own signal or Kendrick's end, so she had to tell him, "The signal is not very good, don't worry, I estimate I will be back around nine o'clock, if your social engagement ends by then, we can go home together." "Yao... now..." Due to signal issues, Kendrick's words were almost incoherent.
