NADINE My entire sleep was riddled with nightmares of a one-eyed wolf with thinning fur snarling fiercely at me. I was too shocked to move and kept screaming until it was dragged away by a huge wolf and flung into the darkness. The nightmare kept replaying over and over and I had no idea when it stopped.

NIGHTMARES. A very bad or frightening dream. Anna was starting to lose count of the number of nightmares she’s been having since Josh’s death but whenever she woke up with one, clearing her head with a jog had been working well on her. She lets out a sigh as she turns sideways to stare at the mini alarm clock she had next to her bed. The time read 6:00 am and she hated the fact that she had to be awake at this early hour of the day.

“Fuck ‘em. Means more for us,” said another. A few of the goons laughed. “If they’re even here,” said a thug. “They’re here,” Nightmare interjected. “I can smell ‘em. Prolly saw us land and hid somewhere. Maybe some sort of hidden basement or something. Likely scared shitless.” He motioned for a thug to hop up on something. “Draw ‘em out,” he ordered. The thug immediately climbed up on a large crate, then took in a deep breath.

And danger attracts me towards itself like a magnet. The nightmares had stopped for a while this week but then I saw one, again, this morning. This one was different from others. Among all the nightmares regarding this particular "Rude Malhotra" faced monster, this one was the only where where HE did anything else except scaring me, glaring me and smirking at me. "He may be a theif! Because whenever he is in close proximity to me, he steals all my oxygen leaving me breathless, gasping for air."

The one three feet from my bed. I sat up so fast my vision blurred. The clock on my nightstand said 3:03 AM. My bedroom door was closed. I always close it. Through the gap at the bottom, I could see the hallway light was off—but I hadn't turned it off. I had left it on, like I did every night, because I'm afraid of the dark. A thirty-two-year-old man afraid of the dark. Pathetic, I know. But the light was off now.

In a nice voice I reply “Just had the scariest nightmare of my life. Why are you awake at 2 in the morning?” If I had of called anyone else, they would have ripped my head off for calling at such an ungodly hour. “Oh, you poor baby, its okay it was just a nightmare.” She purrs.
