MOLLY I had a problem. I was pointing a gun at a guy with green makeup on his face, and I kept thinking how he looked like that goblin guy from one of those superhero movies. A bubble of laughter was coming up in my sternum. I tried stopping it, I did, but once it was past my throat, it was hopeless. I bent over, my gun still in the air, and the laughter was kapoosh! Totally coming out of me. I winced, hearing a note of hysteria on the edge of it.

"I knew right then she wasn't cut out for the big leagues." That was a recital when I was eight years old. It was my first time facing such a large audience, and I did get stage fright. But Rhys was the first one to rush onto the stage to comfort me back then. He told me, "Maeve, you played wonderfully. Those people just don't understand music." Now he was using it to humiliate me. Laughter echoed through the room, and my cheeks burned. He was mocking me in public, turning my past humiliation into a punchline.

Julian looked at Malcolm's dazed expression and could not help but tease, "Well, well, well. She was just a virgin back then. Yet you took her virginity when she just turned eighteen. You have weird ideas and thoughts!” Being commented like that by Mia, the man feels both amused and helpless because Mia often understands Malcolm's words literally. But Malcolm doesn't want to say it out loud, because this would make his sentence lose its original value. And if he doesn't say it, Mia can't understand properly. Malcolm laughs at this thought, covering his mouth to keep from making a sound. Seeing the man's strange expression, the girl also finds it funny, so Mia spontaneously

I stay silent for a moment, sipping on my cappuccino and thinking about what this Henry Hull has said. I guess it wouldn’t be too far of a jump to consider such things could exist. Did this mean elves, goblins, and fairies are real too? It sounded ridiculous. I turn to Henry and ask him what I want to know. “Did you make me like this? Were you the one that ran into my car?”

I asked amidst my laughter and she giggled. “That's what they are, Luna. They looked like they swallowed an elephant, especially Billie. She's too ugly for someone who claims to be a bully. One of these days, I'm gonna kick her so hard that she won't be able to stand up from the ground.” Mara was still reeling with laughter. Heck, I was too. Laura was so funny for someone her age. The funniest thing was that she never laughed when saying it. She'll just maintain a serious expression.

“Please make a guess.” Mrs. Lapuz thinks about it hard. Finally, she whispers: “Am I… being Punk’d?” The exact name she said was Wow Mali, a local gag show. Nate can’t help but laugh. Leaning forward across the table, he says softly but clearly: “The friend I’m referring to is Ecto.” It takes Mrs. Lapuz a couple of seconds to place the familiar name. Then her eyes bulge. “Ecto the chatbot?” she hisses.
