He speaks as if he knows me, and I’ve never seen him before in my life. His skin has a pale tint, so much so that it’s almost translucent. He has black hair that goes past his shoulders. He looks like he’s 6’5, and he’s lean but muscular. He’s wearing old-world clothing, something from the 19th century. I look closer and notice that his eyes are red, blood red. I gasp once I realize what that means. He’s a vampire, like a real-life vampire. I have never been around a vampire before, and I know my life must be over.

I looked at Frank through the bars of the cage. His skin looked paler than that of Ben, and his eyes had a darker hue. His lips looked as though they were painted red, and his thin body structure made him look as if he lacked the strength to fight, but that wasn’t the case, as I could see that he was brimming with energy and self-confidence. He was wearing a black gown that was worn by people in the eighteenth century. “How old-fashioned these vampires are. They know hardly anything about the prevailing fashion and trends. He would look like an idiot if he happened to be in the human world.” I thought to myself, trying to hide the laughter that was trying to show on my face.

I tell her when I walk out the shower and leave her to gather herself. I pick a black button down and black slacks, my shiny dressed shoes and the Rolex I got from my father when I killed my first vampire. Then I turn to Adriana’s side of the closet and pick a burgundy colored jumpsuit that exposes her entire back. The phoenix on her back and her not yet healed mark will be on full display. I love it.

I said, taking mental notes. Hours went by. The daylight was fading fast, giving way to darkness. We have an early dinner at 6:00 in the evening. Had Jasper been alert, he would have admired such an authentic costume that clearly showed the stranger to be portraying a vampire.

Or some other color altogether?” “And what about your groom?” asked another girl. “And his groomsmen? In most vampire weddings, they wear black velvet robes, with high collars, and a white satin shirt, with studs and cuffs. But do you want a different color scheme? And do you want him dressed differently than the others?”
