After two days of high temperatures and intense boredom, he remembered the three books. Sam pulled out the one with the Mummy on the cover, because it looked the most innocuous. It was entitled the Ninth Pan Book of Horror Stories. He wasn’t the least bit prepared for what he found inside. The first three stories involved emasculation, murder and burning at the stake. In his fevered state Sam felt he was not only watching the characters’ suffering, he was experiencing it along with them. He flung the book at the wall and then hid it again, wishing he could burn it like Jinnot, the young girl in the third story who was burned alive.

The problem I’m having is this: If I allow myself even the slightest bit of wiggle room for the veracity of Father Ward’s story in this journal, the door is opened wide for all sorts of other things. Like a child-devouring demon named Moloch or Baal. An odd yellow taxi and odder coins bearing a strange design popping up all over town. A ghostly boy maybe born of a man’s deep pain and self-loathing. A strange place called Carcosa—with black skies and even blacker stars—where it seems lost people go when they’ve nowhere else. Someone or something named Hastur (a name which runs cold shivers down my spine even thinking it).

Something strange happens in Rafe's house, especially in Luna's room. A very old magic book, the Grimoire, opens by itself. The room feels even stranger when ghostly laughter is heard. Then suddenly a clear sentence breaks the silence. "I must hurry with this plan," says a mysterious voice, and then the Grimoire disappears as if it had never been there. The story moves to the wilds of Borneo, a different and secret place. Here many helicopters, supported by air force planes, are searching for something important.

Jessica's voice went dead serious. "This manor has thirty floors. The monsters on the lower floors? They're simple. Predictable. They work on pure instinct. Learn their patterns, and you can survive. Treat them like traps. But the higher you go... the ones at the top are a different breed entirely. They won't just kill you. They'll shatter your sanity in seconds. They'll show you what true terror really is." "She's right," Brad chimed in, his smile turning predatory.

The carriage is rocking as we cross the bridge, and one glance down at the frothing water below makes me wish I hadn’t looked. “It’s what everyone says.” She squeezes her sides tighter. “Anytime I hear anything about Hawthorn it’s about how dangerous it is. Your dad didn’t tell you anything? What about your mom?” “She died when I was a baby. I don’t remember her.” We’re almost at the end of the drawbridge and my heart slams against my ribcage in anticipation of the unknown. Whatever lies on the other side of this bridge, it for sure won’t be like small-town Wisconsin.

Marcus cast his eyes down as his shame covered him like a new winter’s coat. “ For now,Noah, please just trust me.” For a while after Noah left his room, Marcus stared up at the ceiling, feeling like the lowest form of life for lying to his best friend. How could he possibly explain to him that his dad and new girlfriend were being haunted by an ancient spirit, the same one who haunted his gran and her sister years before? “ Hello Marcus.” The voice which suddenly interrupted his thoughts, was melodious and familiar. Marcus looked to his side and by the light of the moon beaming through the window, he saw her.

He lowered his head and said, "When I was just a kid, Mom had frequent nightmares, like every three to five days. As I grew older and Mom built her own life and social circle, the nightmares gradually reduced. I consulted a doctor, and they said that if you wake up during a nightmare, it only makes the nightmare deeply engraved in the person’s memory, so I dare not go in... Standing outside the master bedroom, Ivan listened to the cries that grew louder and softer. Suddenly, he thought of those comments he had seen in the news. The spoiled Miss DeRoss, who grew up in the DeRoss family, was caught by reporters having a one-night stand with a wild man on the day after her eighteenth birthday,

The next second, the Patchwork Monster tore the man in half. He tossed the body outside casually. Just then, a crisp, bell-like voice sounded outside. “It’s after work hours, who’s so rude as to be throwing bodies around?” A young girl with three heads and eight arms appeared at the doorway. With just one look at the shop, anger filled her voice, and her hair stood on end. “Who the hell had a death wish and smashed the Number One Must-Eat shop in the entire horror game?”

In 1983 a Mrs Carson of New York was laid out in our coffin, presumed dead of hear disease. As mourners watched, she suddenly sat up, alive as you or I. Unfortunately her daughter dropped dead of fright on the spot. I don't own any of this stories. I found them in some creepy books. I'm thinking of writing my own scary stories, but not anytime soon. I know your mom is always working.” “That would be cool, but my mom needs me.” Seeing something move in the shadows, I feel like I did last night and get a little worried.
