I prefer stuff on Welsh history and myths.” I watch the screen of not-there people in awe before turning to face Max. “Ah. That explains why you caught me out yesterday. You’ve studied my father’s stories, haven’t you?” I ask, impressed that he would be so interested. I wonder if he understands his own bloodline? “Yes,” Max nods in agreement. “I love all that stuff. It’s always been something of a dream job for me,” he continues and then looks up at me with a small, tentative smile. “I never imagined a real-life dragon would be sitting on a couch next to me though.”

There were thousands of books tied to the ceiling by metal chains, the books were made from animal skin and were as big as a table. "These books had belonged to the Void Dragons, the Air Temple, and some were written by Wind Dragons. This is our accumulated knowledge and intelligence." Megan, Lisa and her team were already there. There were sitting all around giant tables, reading books, the books stood upright and they were youngsters in charge of turning the pages.

I rubbed my thumbs over the edges of the cover, staying clear of the eye. Soft, sleek, and smooth like a lizard's skin. "What's inside?" Cindy gave me one of her famous looks. This one saying, Duh! "Abernathy's spells. This is the oldest, most powerful book on the planet, and it's mine now." I snorted, though I could feel the book's power. "Really? Why do you have it?" Immediately after the words left my mouth, I regretted them.

She looks at the books with curiosity, “May I ask why you’re getting books on dragons? I thought the abroad course was on history and culture?” “Yes, it is. I’m taking two additional online classes. One of them is a humanities course. I’m doing a paper comparing the different origins of dragon mythology.” I tell her with a smile. She nods and hands me a bag with the books, “Have a nice evening. I look forward to seeing you again Monday.” “You too.”

Then the last one, well, I smiled as I saw him. “You heard the name BLACK DRAGON right?” our boss continued. I can clearly see their reactions. The tall guy just raised an eyebrow. The mohawk guy looked straight to our boss. The last one just smiled and the youngest boy looked excited. “Black Dragon?! Who wouldn’t know him?! He’s a legend! One of the few we look up to! He can be lined up beside Shadow and Eclipse! An expert and a genius! You’re going to introduce him to us?!” he finally said. I smiled. If only you know. I thought.
