“No. They should be going to her. Push them away, Ronan!” Ronan tried. His voice grew desperate as he begged the creatures to turn. To leave them. To attack Calla instead. But the monsters did not listen. Their red eyes fixed on Tanya’s group. Saliva dripped from long teeth. They charged. The first monster leaped straight at the wolf closest to Tanya. Its jaws clamped down on his arm with a sickening crunch. The wolf screamed. Blood sprayed across the snow. He tried to stab it, but the creature shook him like a rag and threw him to the ground.

The pack members scattered, their faces etched with fear, their eyes wide with horror. In the center of the clearing, a monstrous figure loomed, its dark form shifting and growing. Moonlight cast an eerie glow on the creature, revealing its thick black fur, its piercing yellow eyes, and its gnashing teeth. It was Draven, mid-transformation, his human form battling the wolf within.

But then, I heard a howl. The howl was like nothing I had ever heard before. It was deep and powerful, and it seemed to fill the very air around me. I opened my eyes, and I saw the creature staggering back, its face filled with fear. Then, a large wolf leaped from the shadows, landing in front of me. Its fur was shining silver, and its eyes were glowing yellow. I recognized it immediately. It was Raya, the beta.
