I felt happy but deep inside I was always sad. I wasn't able to sleep that night. I kept turning around. The dream I used to have come back. This time I saw his face. His blue eyes sparkled. It had always been him. Mike. He even conquered me in my dreams. He never left me alone. Then, suddenly I was lost in darkness. Pitch black darkness everywhere I looked. But suddenly a beautiful woman came near me. She was dressed in white. Her hair was white as well. She hugged me. She comforted me. "Don't be afraid my child. I am the moon goddess. You are never alone. He is your world." she spoke. A knock on the door woke me up. It was my mom who came to wake me up.

The first omen came at dawn. Silverveil woke to find every pool, puddle, and basin in the territory turned to silver. Not frozen. Not poisoned. Just reflective. Like liquid mirrors. Melody tested one with her fingertip and flinched back as if burned. “It’s watching,” she whispered. Collin’s jaw flexed. “Who?” Melody didn’t bother pretending not to know. “The Moon.” No one drank from the river that day. No one howled.

All were silent and patiently waiting, most were parents and understood the interruption. “I apologize for that. We do know the when and where. The prince plans to complete his goal at the full moon festival during the spring equinox.” “That is a sacred time of year when wolves from all over the country join together the renewal spring represents, the season and our bond with our king.” Gamma Derek said, sounding shocked and horrified. “It's almost the perfect plan they can blend in with the crowd and the king will be most vulnerable during the bonding ceremony; it would be the perfect time to strike.” Beta Zara sounded almost impressed.

"Because I asked you to." So, I stayed. I sat on the east wing window seat with the curtain pulled back three inches with my notebook in my lap and nothing written in it, while I watched the grounds. The perimeter lights ran in a chain along the north wall and bent around the west corner and the gap between them. At midnight the grounds were still. At twelve-eleven they weren't. Two figures moved through the exact gap with deliberateness like they had memorised where the light stopped. They weren’t running; rather they were walking, low and fast, following the line of the treeline along the north edge where the shadow was deepest.

" The trail led me to a clearing in the woods where I saw Amara sitting alone looking up. Her eyes were wide and she seemed to be mesmerized by something that was happening above... on the moon! I slowly approached her, not wanting to scare her, and then I saw what she was looking at: a huge gray wolf running across the surface of the Moon. I was a wolf myself now, but I had never seen anything like it... Amara looked at me again then and our eyes met. Suddenly I understood what they were doing: they were converting! She wanted to be a wolf like

Lily. Liam didn’t even think about his feet or his legs or anything as he pumped himself, pushing his muscles to run to her as if he was trying to make a touchdown. He was screaming for her, begging for her to come to him, but she wasn’t moving. She was bleeding from her neck, and was incredibly pale. When Liam took her into his arms, she was cold. The blue in her eyes was disappearing. “Lily, oh my Lily,” Liam cried. “No no no, look at me baby. Baby look at me. Please, please,” He begged her. He begged her with everything in his belief system. He begged and begged.

Both were staring at me, neither one moving. The light in the clearing changed as both the sun and the moon moved high in the sky, the light of the moon on the smokey grey wolf, making his silver fur shine. The sun bright on the sunrise wolf, his fur golden and beautiful in the sunlight. Both were stark contrasts, mirror images of each other. The power of the forest thrummed heavier, almost feeding off the energy both wolves were giving off. I slowly sank to my knees, awed by the beautiful wolves. Awed but so confused and cautious. Why? Why am I always brought to the forest? Why do I see them? Who are they? I had so many questions and when I opened my mouth to ask them, the forest disappeare

All I knew was to run away. My running stopped as soon as I reached a lake. I have no clue where this lake was or how far I had come but I knew I was still in the pack land. I could sense the borders pull just some meters away from where I stood. Glad that it was a full moon night, I collapsed by the lake's bank that imitated the role of a mirror. The clear water of the lake reflected the round moon like an acrylic painting on a huge irregular shaped canvas. One word; breathtaking. Though I didn't intend to ruin the pretty picture, my throat was absolutely parched. Tongue lapping at the water in desperation, I slowly slid myself in the water to calm the aching of my muscles.
