Instead, there was a layer of dark clouds above. This summertime weather was just like the expression of a cranky old woman, changing so easily. With this weather, there was no telling if the full moon would appear later or if there would be a thunderstorm. “We’re almost there,” Carson said calmly as he stared at the faraway island. “Yeah,” replied Zeppelin, giving a slight nod.

The pack’s compound was quiet, a calm that felt deceptively serene. “There is this thing... during full moons the tide is high and what about during no moon days? What then? Do you think the tides will be low?” Killian sighed. “It’s not how it works. During no moon and full moon day then there will be high tides,” “So the few days in the middle there might be low tides,” “Alpha king what are you getting at,” Killian sounded more than frustrated with him. Dylan felt his heart skip a beat, looking at the small island on the map. “I think I might have found my mate.” “What?” “This island.. he is there,” “It’s a death trap. No man lives there. The tides there are so ferocious that it can eat up a huge ship. You think your mate escaped to this place? Impossible,”

It showed an island surrounded by dark ocean. Molly tapped the display. “This is the island where the Eclipse facility was located.” The image shifted. Another projection appeared. A satellite scan. Marcus leaned forward. “That’s recent.” Molly nodded. “Very recent.” The thermal image zoomed closer. Multiple heat signatures appeared across the island. Chaos tilted his head. “Oh.” “Interesting.” Molly enlarged the final image. A single figure appeared in the projection. Standing near the ruined structures. The room went silent. Sol’s voice turned cold.

She looked small next to the men, the only woman in the group. Darius walked over to her. He gripped her chin gently. “You’re coming,” he said. Not a question. “You saw the island in your spell. You’ll guide us when we get close.” Lisa swallowed. “I don’t know the exact way. The spell showed water and trees, but not roads.” He smiled thinly. “Then we follow the only path that leads there. Through Moonclaw Pack territory. Seven days if we don’t stop much. Their land is the shortcut. They won’t like it, but they won’t stop us.”

It was nighttime, but the moon was so full and so big, it lit up the night almost as if it were day. Caitlin looked down and was afforded a bird’s-eye view. She had sensed water, and she had been right. She was on an island. All around her, in every direction, there stretched a huge, beautiful river, its waters very still and lit up by the moonlight. It was the widest river she had ever seen. And there, in the middle of it, was the tiny island on which she’d slept. A small island, hardly more than a few dozen acres, one end of it was dominated by a crumbling, Scottish castle, half in ruin. The rest of the island was completely consumed by a thick forest.
