Did you notice?" He asked.

I hate early morning alarms! Especially the 5 O'clock ones I set for myself so I can wake up on time for school. They always ring every time I'm just getting very snuggly under my bedcovers and enjoying the second round of tranquil sleep. It doesn't help that I always read a book when I'm supposed to be in bed. Yeah, I'm a nerd and I know it. I bet you are too, ha ha.

Chapter 90 – The Fire Beneath The morning started like any other, quiet and serene, the sunlight filtering through the tall windows of the penthouse, casting soft, golden rays across the room. Clara had woken up early, as she often did when her thoughts were swirling, and she sat in the kitchen, sipping a cup of coffee as she skimmed through her manuscript. The book was moving forward in a way she hadn’t expected. It felt right, felt like a part of her story was finally coming together, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace about her journey.

Eight months. More than eight months of waking up every morning in a tiny apartment above a bakery and convincing myself that life hurt a little less than it did the day before. Most days, it actually did. Millhaven slowly became familiar to me in the quietest ways. The bakery downstairs opened before sunrise, filling the building with the warm scent of fresh bread every morning. The diner opened at six sharp. The library on Main Street locked its doors every evening at exactly five, and Mrs. Okafor, the librarian, always carried a sunflower bookmark inside whichever romance novel she was currently reading.

The First Time The next morning, my body felt compelled to run. I craved the wind against my skin. The sun had barely risen and after last night’s party, I knew not many wolves would be out. Early morning was always the perfect time to run. To my surprise, the house was very active for this early in the morning. Servants were running up the stairs with books in their hands and elders following behind them. I don’t think I have ever seen this many people in the house at one time.
