Our Final Goodbye
"Why are you crying?"
I looked up at a clean, youthful face and cried even harder. "My mom is in there, but I can't see her."
The young Adrian froze for a moment, then burst out laughing. "What's there to cry about?"
He clapped his hands, squatted down in front of me, his voice bright. "Get on."
Later, I climbed into the coffin and clutched my mother's cold body, crying until I was hoarse.
The sound of my sobs drew everyone's attention, and Adrian was beaten severely by his father. Even with his face bruised and swollen, he still flashed me a reckless smile.
