Austin revealed, his voice tinged with suspicion. “He lied,” I stated, a frown forming on my face. “But why would he?” “Well, you see, our dear Tom Tom wasn’t just in Greenfield for a meeting; rather, he was there to see a certain someone,” Austin explained eagerly, his voice tinged with excitement. He lifted his phone, displaying an image of Tom alongside a mysterious man. “He was here to see Dr. Tunde, who happens to be a witch,” Austin exclaimed, as he leaned in closer, emphasizing each word for dramatic effect.

I rolled my eyes but nearly screeched when something creepy appeared on the screen. I should've brought the Holy Bible along with a rosary. Surely it would've been enough to ward off anything negative from that movie? "Austin's fast asleep." He snorts. "He won't know if you simply moved the movie. You can always lie and say it was done. He would not know the difference." I turn to Kade, my eyes narrowing on the side of his face as I forced my eyes to actually stay only on his face and not trail down to his tempting mouth. "But I'll know the difference. I don't quit when things get tough Kade, I see them through."

MJ asked. “No chic flick.” Jake said. “No jock crap.” Jessi responded. “How about Madea’s movie? I bought the whole set, but haven't watched all of them yet.” MJ explained. Everyone agrees. I gritted out, shoving a piece of toast into my mouth just to have an excuse not to speak. "We wouldn't want you falling asleep during the premiere tonight. I have a lot of things I want you to see." What did he want me to see? The movie or is he planning on putting on a show with mom again tonight? What on earth goes on in his head whenever he speaks in regards to me.

Tom glanced over his shoulder at the two and grimaced. "She's with your brother, my ass,” he mumbled before turning back to the driver. He stepped back, the crimson puddle under him splashing over his boots and around the white tiles with every move he made. When he looked at Aaron, he found him staring at the entire scene with a tired gaze. He didn't even look bothered, as though he hadn't just killed a human. He just tucked his gun away like nothing happened.

Without a word, he lifts the armrest between our seats and drapes his jacket over my shoulders and then like he’s afraid to push only after a long pause that he slides his fingers between mine. Nothing like the firestorm that Ian leaves in his wake. “Tell me if it’s too much,” Jake murmurs against my hair. I squeeze his hand. “No. It’s… nice.” The movie starts with a loud action film with so many explosions I lose count but Jake somehow manages to pay more attention to me than the screen. Every time I shift, he checks if I’m comfortable. Every time I smile, he smiles harder and for a moment, I let myself believe that he could be enough.
