Moving On Letter Novels & Stories

"Yeah, one last thing." She rolled onto her stomach again, "Honestly, I can't believe you haven't figured this out. I'm not sure why people think you're the smart one." As she teased him, she wrote an 'imu' in the sand. Then another. And another. But the word changed slightly each time -- just at the middle letter. Its outside legs grew a little longer with each new version. The legs curved inwards and joined at a point underneath. The middle leg shortened slightly. The middle letter wasn't a letter at all. It never was. He'd guessed wrong years ago and never looked back.

Not knowing what it was. Writing carefully with the handwriting of someone forming letters as an act of enormous intention. I read the letter. Picked up the pen. You are not alone. Forward. One letter. One honest morning. One person at a time. Always forward.

He didn’t wait for a response; he just walked away. Once I knew he was out of sight, I flung myself onto the couch, my heart racing. I feel like I’m making the right move. I just have to move faster so he doesn’t get in my way. I picked up the letter and walked to the window where I expected Noah to be stationed. I whistled to catch his attention. He looked around briefly before noticing me. He waved. I waved back and then pointed at the letter. Noah understood what I meant. He looked around to make sure no one was watching. Once the coast was clear, he gave me a signal, and I threw the letter down. He caught it instantly.

That wouldn’t make sense as GOD won’t send a letter to him telling him he is the next ALPHA. He wants this to make sense to him but there’s no address on the letter, not even the sender's address. Without any sender’s address, he can’t make contact with the person that sent the letter to him. He slowly opens the door and walks into his apartment narrowing his eyes over and over again at the five-letter words. “What does this mean?” he mutters under his breath.

He said and I made O mouth. "So it's Will you?" I asked to confirm and he gave me a slight nod, smiling. He continued and my heartbeat quickened when I understood the next letter. It's M. I assumed, "m means marry?" He smiled widely and said, "let me complete the question." He continued, my heart beating fast. He wrote, A. R. R. Y. So I assumed right, it is 'marry.' Butterflies are flying in my stomach. But who propose for a marriage like this?

That was what they were for. Mona received the offer letter on a Friday afternoon. Transfer effective the following Monday. Relocation covered. Accommodation arranged for the first month — a furnished apartment in the 8th, the kind of address that didn't require explanation. She read the letter twice. She came to his office at five fifteen. She knocked. He said come in without looking up. "Mr. Fayez." He looked up. She was standing in the doorway with the offer letter in her hand. Not holding it like a question. Just — holding it.

Dates. Routes. Codes. My stomach tightened. Cassian crouched beside me. “Let me see.” I handed it to him. His fingers brushed mine again. This time, neither of us pretended not to notice. He scanned the sheet, jaw tightening. “They’re moving faster than we thought.” “Where?” I asked. He pointed at a scribbled symbol. “Here. This is their signature. They use it when they’re shifting locations. It means acceleration.” I frowned. “But why speed up now?”

"You can hold it as you see fit, but for now close your hands around it and try to imitate the letters." It's basically seeing a child starting to learn to write, but their movements are more rigid, precisely because they don't know what it's like to be free, and it's going to take time. Augustus shows me the right patience. He put the letter E first because the strokes are easier. 'Soren, can you come to the office?' Victor asked me via mental message. "Ayla, I'm going, but later Victor or I will come back and pick you up," I said.

"Sandra witnessing the turning gave me something to stand in. Something solid enough to make the call." I sat in the kitchen with my coffee going cold. "I am close," I said. "To being ready. I am not arrived. But I am close." "I know," Mae said. "The second paragraph of your last letter. I am still moving toward the other conversation. I read it many times." She paused. "I have been reading the movement in your letters. The direction of it." She paused. "You are closer than you know." I looked out the kitchen window.

MAMA. The letters were various sizes. The M was the largest, ambitious, taking up approximately forty percent of the card's front real estate. The A's decreased in height across the word in a pattern that suggested she had made the first one and then recalibrated the available space and adjusted accordingly. The final A was smaller than it wanted to be but was completing a commitment that had already been made and was doing so without complaint. It was the best word I had ever seen written.
