His pale, angular face was partially hidden beneath a beanie, his red eyes glowing faintly in the darkness.

There was a horrifying, wet crack that echoed across the empty lot, and the vampire went limp, a broken doll discarded on the asphalt. The second one was smarter, trying to use his speed. He darted in, aiming for Ardonis's neck. But Ardonis was faster. He sidestepped the attack, grabbed the vampire's arm, and twisted. Bone snapped like a dry twig. The thug howled in pain, but Ardonis didn't stop. He drove his fist into the vampire's chest, a single, powerful blow that caved in his ribcage. The vampire's eyes went wide in shock before he crumpled to the ground, his life extinguished in a spray of black, dead blood. It was brutal. It was terrifying. And it was over in seconds.

He struck Mr. Humphries in the head, and the poor man fell to the ground. I looked away, my pulse racing.
