“You’re coming with us. Maybe a little time in a dark room will change your attitude.” As they began to move, a sound echoed through the alley—a low, humming noise that grew louder, more insistent. Sophia’s heart pounded. Drones. The Syndicate had sent drones. “Get down!” Ethan shouted, pulling Sophia and Lily to the ground just as the first drone appeared overhead, its camera whirring to life. A second later, a spray of bullets shattered the silence, ripping through the air where they had been standing.

Kira cried when she saw him, as if he were her last hope. Alistair just watched her with cold indifference, the same way he had watched me in that cage. "You killed my son," he said calmly. "No! It bled oil and white sparks. The ceramic blade severed the primary wiring. The Drone twitched and powered down.
