Henry’s eyes light up, “With a smile like that how could I say no?” With everything that is going on lately this is a very much needed distraction. I know I need to address what just happened between me and Jeong and figure out what am I suppose to do exactly for the rest, but I welcome this. Before pulling out of the parking structure, he reached into the back seat and set a warm banana-leaf parcel and a small thermos in my lap. "Lemper. Uti's recipe — my grandmother." He merged into the crawl. "And STMJ. Still warm. She swore by it." STMJ. Susu, telur, madu, jahe — milk, egg, honey, ginger. Exactly what a body wrung out by four days of airports needed. Also, famously, the drink every bapak in Java swore by for his stamina. I hid my smile in the first warm sip and decided not to tease him. Yet.

Snack packs of dried mangoes, that exact brand of spicy trail mix she claimed made her lips "tingle just right." A box of imported instant noodles from Korea she once mentioned in passing while scrolling on her phone. Even the stupid purple yogurt she liked that I used to make fun of her for? Bought a dozen. "Be gentle with that top bag," I warned one of them, "Her strawberry licorice is in there. If it's crushed, you'll be mopping floors for a month." Jay, a really young, vibrant boy, opened another bag and blinked. "Is this… garlic butter noodles? And… white truffle fries?" He asked quietly, almost to himself.

Juicy put her hand on her hips and tapped her foot in annoyance, staring at everyone in the room until they averted their eyes. She continued, despite the fact that she had no one to focus her anger on. "And first of all; those are not from a box or from the corner store. Those are fresh made. Second; fresh blueberries cost good money when people gotta be pigs about things!" Juicy put her hands back into the woman's hair. She pulled the comb through tensely. "So, if you all get hungry then you need to just pack a damn lunch, shit." She mumbled.
