I grit my teeth but force a neutral expression. “Where’s Ryder?” I demand, cutting straight to the point. I don’t have time for his games, and we both know it.
Hermes raises an eyebrow, his smirk widening. “Impatient, aren’t we?” he says, like this whole thing is a source of endless amusement. “Relax. We’ll get to that.”
I take a step forward, but one of his men shifts, hand moving to his gun. I stop, hands clenching into fists. Hermes watches me, still grinning, and I realize that’s exactly what he wants: to see me lose my cool, to see me unravel.
