Billy sneered at me as he waved the doll in front of me but then the arm suddenly fell off, he broke it! "Oopsies." Billy said with mock sympathy and just like that, I snapped. I sat down on the sand and started wailing loudly, not caring that I was ruining my white skirt. "Hey!" I was still crying when I heard a loud voice. I turned back only to see a boy walking towards us. He was tall and skinny compared to Billy's chubby stature. He had long dark hair which was slicked backwards. He had long eyelashes and stormy grey eyes with a perfect straight nose. He was very beautiful! I thought to myself as the boy approached us.

“He almost got him. Almost.” Across from him stand two shadows made flesh—Ace and Black, his most loyal hounds. They are men without conscience, shaped into predators by Wade’s command. Ace is wiry, sharp-eyed, movements precise as a blade. Black, in contrast, is broad and heavy, with a presence that fills the room. He smirks, his lip piercing catching the dim light, his tongue flicking across it with dark amusement. “The doctor?” Ace asks, voice low. Wade leans forward, setting the glass down. His grin widens. “Yes. The fool tried to run, thinking he could disappear. But we caught him first.”

My body ached with exhaustion, but my mind wouldn’t let me rest. Blake joined me after a while, carrying two mugs. He set one in front of me without asking. “Coffee,” he said simply. The mug was warm in my hands. I stared at the steam, unsure if I wanted to thank him or throw it at the wall just to feel something different. “You did good today,” he said. I laughed softly, bitter. “All I did was stand around.” “You stood your ground.” His eyes caught mine, sharp, unreadable. “That’s more than most would’ve done.”
