“It’s true. We can’t trust anyone.” A long air of heavy silence fell once more. They only ate and relieved themselves of the worries. This is a time for nourishment and not anxiety. But the backs of their mind knew that the danger is still very real. Someone is plotting something somewhere, waiting for the right moment in time. And soon, they’ll all be six feet under. “I have an idea,” said Agatha. “Let’s go mystery hunting. I deserved better, this stupid year was just kicking my ass. Assuring myself of this, I took a deep breath out, running a hand through my hair as I crossed the road, headed straight into the library, putting my phone into my jacket pocket. The town library was exceptionally big, not too large though, but I must admit could hold quite a lot of books as they were rows upon rows. I made my way straight to the books about fantasy creatures, realizing that they were surprisingly many. Young Adult fantasy is a thing...like a big deal, I noted reading through so interesting titles, but not the specific one I was looking for.

Everyone was just strange. One day, in between classes, I finally found some spare time to slip away to the library. For a few days, I'd been meaning to do some research on Moon Wolves, a topic that had piqued my interest since I arrived at college. I went through the shelves and pulled down dusty old tomes and flipping through their pages. I finally found the book. This was what I had been searching for, and a chance to get to know more about the mysteries of my world and the hidden truths beneath. I signed at the checkout before making my way back to my dorm, but my excitement was cut short by an unexpected encounter.

Besides, we were best friends since middle school and would never betray our friendship by repeating what was said in confidence. Nora and I worked for the same company, but in different departments. I was a junior investigator and she worked as a supervisor in the general secretary pool that serviced me and a few other investigators. It was expected that she would know the results of a case since it was she or one of the secretaries that she supervised who tended to the files and typed up the report before sending it to the client, but the details of how it was solved remained a mystery to her, unless they were shared by me. Stopped. Walked in. A kid, maybe twenty, stood behind the counter, staring at his phone. "Do you have books for teenagers?" He looked up. "Like, Young Adult?" "I don't know. Sixteen-year-olds." "Yeah. YA section's in the back." I walked to the back. Found shelves labeled Young Adult Fiction. Pulled out a book at random. Read the back. Something about dragons. Shoved it back in. Pulled out another. Read the back.

I despised them almost as much as I despised being woken up from my sleep, I rolled my eyes before looking over at Justin, Justin was a tall lanky guy, three years my junior and completely obsessed with murders. “Rush, it is an extremely high profile case and there’s a lot of second guessing going around, let’s face it the Hudson’s are not short of enemies. It has never been my goal to impress my sister with anything I do. I scroll through the books in the library until I come to my favourite section, Mystery. I always love the thrill that comes with not knowing what's going to happen next. You can make it more interesting for yourself if you start to wonder what is happening and what will happen. I take a few glances through the books on the shelves and take a book that looks the most interesting out of all the books I saw. 'In the Woods' by Tana French.

I replied, shaking his hand briefly before pulling it back, a tingle left in its place. “So, Kalia, what’s so captivating in that book of yours that you almost missed the best coffee in town?” He nodded toward my cup. I tilted my head, considering him. “You are assuming I don’t already know that this place has the best coffee.” He raised an eyebrow. “Fair enough. But now I’m curious about the book.” I held it up, the cover facing him. “It’s a mystery novel. Keeps me on my toes.” He leaned in slightly, intrigued. “A mystery, huh? So, you like solving puzzles?”

The dim, golden light from the chandeliers above created pools of light and shadow, adding to the library’s timeless atmosphere. I searched diligently, combing through the aisles dedicated to ancient mysteries and the occult. The titles were intriguing yet obscure, written in languages I could barely decipher. Just as despair began to settle in, my eyes caught sight of a section labeled "Ancient Mysteries of the Wolf Race." My heart leaped with hope as I approached the section, quickly pulling out a few volumes.

But nothing seemed to match the symbol on my door. Frustrated, I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my temples. There had to be something here, some clue that I was missing. I glanced at the stack of books beside me, my eyes landing on one that looked older and more worn than the others. Its leather cover was cracked and faded, the title barely legible: *The Mysteries of Silverwood.* I pulled the book closer and opened it carefully.
