Mystery Thriller Novels & Stories

It has never been my goal to impress my sister with anything I do. I scroll through the books in the library until I come to my favourite section, Mystery. I always love the thrill that comes with not knowing what's going to happen next. You can make it more interesting for yourself if you start to wonder what is happening and what will happen. I take a few glances through the books on the shelves and take a book that looks the most interesting out of all the books I saw. 'In the Woods' by Tana French.

I quicken my step. My shoes squeak on the grimy tile floor as I make the turn at the head of the stairs. Dim sunlight filters in through a skylight dome the color of sour milk but doesn’t quite reach the end of the corridor where my office sits—the last of four. The fluorescent tubes are dead at my end of the hall. I slot my key into the doorknob by the scant illumination spilling through the frosted glass window in the door, stenciled with gold letters: INSIGHT DETECTIVE AGENCY—MILES LANDRY, PI.

What or who was held in here? That he had to look into. And find out everything he had to know about Lucas and his missing assistant. Anika. The paranormal researcher could obviously be something else. And all that he has to find out.... “And one more thing, Detective.” Detective Sean turned to him, giving him his full attention.

Lisa has been making some secret calls ever since I came… Our taxi arrived, and we went downstairs. We hopped in, and Lisa brought out her phone to make another suspicious call again… I leaned against the window and breathed heavily. I trusted her so I wasn't scared. The stress of the day came rushing back. Then, suddenly, the image of the beast from my past flashed through my mind. My hands tightened around the fabric of the dress. I had promised myself that if I ever came across him again, I would destroy him. But why was I thinking about him now?

"Officer, my boyfriend doesn't like causing trouble, but this isn't something that only concerns the two of us. What if the thief breaks into someone else's home and kills someone?" I don’t feel like I’ll enjoy Christmas anymore.” Freyja smiled. “I think it’s nice. A lot of victims in crime thrillers were killed, so ‘suicide’ is the biggest mystery. If you were a viewer, you’d want to know who’s the killer, but what if it’s a suicide?” Norman crossed his arms. “If it was a suicide, the audience would be more captivated. My uncle says that most crime thrillers have a similar storyline. It all boils down to the solving part.”

Bob said, chuckling. “Oh I don’t think that’s worse than investigating multiple murders, in which the only clue is the loans that they all the victims owe a certain bank”. “Yeah speaking of which, Danny I’m calling to tell you that you would have to open another case file, a fifth one” Bob said. Danny winced at the thought of having yet another victim of the mysterious killer. “Who’s the latest victim?” he asked “Owen Mclean an English businessman who deals mainly in real estate, I’d have my secretary send an email of the victim’s details to you, for profiling” Bob said.
