I muttered dryly, still digging through my head for memories that wouldn't surface, and he laughed.
"You don't know how much I missed you," he said, still smiling.
"Where's my phone?" I asked, still trying to pin down my last memory before all of this.
"It's with me," Maurice replied, pulling it from his pocket and holding it out to me. I reached for it but he yanked it back. "I'm not supposed to give you this, but I think I should."
I took the phone from him and quickly unlocked it. The moment I swiped, there were about fifty text messages waiting, twenty of them from Rhea. I looked up at Maurice, then back down at the screen, and opened the chat to read the first message.
