He finally looked up and grinned at me before caressing my black painted face.

She tries to tuck a loose strand behind her ear only to realize that there is no strand to tuck, all her hair had been stuffed into the mask. “Take it off.” He says. “Take what off?” She asks, utterly confused. “Your mask, take it off. Unless you prefer to eat through the holes for your nose.” The mockery in his tone makes Kiara’s cheeks burn with rage. She lifts the mask off and carefully lays it on the table. The wind whips her hair in every direction and Kiara struggles to get it under control. Nia comes to her aid and gets hold of every strand, weaving it, Kiara sees the Emperor follow the movement of her hair with his eyes until Nia drops the long braid that stops above her bottom.

He sighed and brushed his hand in his hair the other hand resting in his pocket and he stopped smiling and said in a deep voice, “Seeing you now is risking my life, you know my first name and for the first time I am not afraid to take such a step.” He turned to me and this time he looked straight in my eyes and he continues, “I will try and come back here to see you. But if I can’t and you can recognize me without my mask when we meet once again, then I won’t hesitate to be yours forever. This I promise.”

He muttered his hands slowly going for my mask. “Reveal the mask!!” Some people in the crowd exclaimed but I shaked my head negatively. “I am sorry.” He mouthed before slowly pulling the mask off my face. I could feel all the eyes in the room suddenly on me but this wasn’t what I wanted, Reuben finally took it off. “Naomi!!!!”

He tugged him, pointing at me. Emotions ran through me, my head banged, and my mind wandered off that I wasn't aware when my mask got peeled off my face. "Aurora?" Ralph whispered, his golden, dust-like eyes coming into contact with mine. My eyes widened. "Uncle, can you see how beautiful my mummy is?" Jasper smiled happily, throwing the mask away. It was my Jasper who removed my mask from my face. Oh God! What has this boy gotten me into?

Then, he continued to eat his food, looking completely at ease. When the man in the mask entered the room and saw what Ronin was doing, he suppressed his anger, walked towards Ronin, and looked at the food on the table. "I've fulfilled what I owe you. Now it's time for you to pay something back to me," the man in the mask said. "Or perhaps you want to return to your previous life. But I assure you, it will only be more painful." His voice was menacing, each word a threat.
