My Responsibilities to you

Chapter 5- My responsibilities to you

Third Person POV

A large forest can be seen at the far end of the city, meters away, a plain land of about fifty meters by side in a way of a rectangle it has only flowers on it in opposition to the dense forest. In these flowers, several tiny paths lead to the middle of the flowers, diverging into different iron plates buried in the ground. At the edge of the large rectangle, an iron pole is set and a blinking light is on it showing a particular direction on the smaller iron plates.

Under this ground, a man in his thirties is sleeping on a wooden bed with a bedsheet laying on it, he is breathing silently but a minute later, his breathing accelerates as if he is unable to catch his breath. His bare muscled chest keeps rising and he shakes his long neck hurriedly, his brows are in knots and his mouth is open wide. His body is shaking vigorously, his limps are clenched in a fist and his knees keep rising and down one after the other.

A phone on a table beside him starts ringing and his actions stop in an instant, he opens his eyes and red eyes stare at the ceiling as his chest change to slow breathing. He gets up slowly as if he has no care on earth and stretches his hand, at his lower back, burnt marks are scattered on his waist opposing the rest of his fine skin and sculptured body. He answers the phone and speaks in a low but deep voice,

“She just went home, should I follow her?”

He squeezes his fist tightly and he says through gritted teeth, his veins appearing on his forehead,

“You want me to give you that command? Where’s your head? Protect her!! Don’t make any mistakes!!”

He hangs up and he moves his hand to hold his hair. He squeezes it and he says in gritting teeth,

“Stay alert!! This body, heart, and mind have no place for feelings. Unless you want to have her killed.”

He gets up and takes his shirt from its hanging post on the wall. He puts it on and makes his way out of the room. Right in front of him are a huge wall, a little corridor the size of his room, and light on each side. He walks a few feet away from the door to his left and stands in front of the wall. He touches the wall and moves his hand slowly on the wall, his palm finds a tiny rough rock on the surface and his thump presses on it.

He moves away from it and walks to the other end, he hears a slight noise and a path appears, he clenches his jaw and fist and walks on the path to complete darkness in front of him. And the path disappears behind him, he raises his fist and throws it in the air and hears a clanking sound above his before another path opens and he gets out of the dark place to see a beautiful room painted in a lighter shade of gold.

Couches, armchairs, dining tables, and any other item in the room are in white. He looks around for someone but he doesn’t see anyone and so he shouts,

“Pa!!! Pa!! ( Where are you? “

A man dressed in a guard attire rushes in front of him and says,

“He is in the other room and doesn’t want to be disturbed.”

He nods his head and makes his way upstairs, a few minutes later, he is standing in front of a man with grey hair, and a huge sack is between them. The red liquid is tickling and appearing from the sack yet the man is busily punching the sack even though he has traces of the liquid all over him. The young man rushes to him and holds him back, instinctively, the man throws a punch in his way his eyes red in color, he glares at the perpetrator but he dodges it. And he speaks in a deep yet calm voice,

“Pa, it’s me. Stop it, it’s already dead. You have blood all over you.”

The man sneers and looks at his fine face, he raises his bloody hands and touches his face and he says to him,

“Greg, it’s you indeed but why did you interrupt my quiet time?”

His expressionless face changes to one of disgust but it disappears the second it emerged and a creepy smile appears on his face. He takes Pa’s hands and walks him to a sink by the wall and opens the tap, waterfalls on their hands and he helps him to wash his hand clean. Pa keeps looking at him while washing his hands a little confused about what is going on but Greg is rather paying much attention to what he is doing.

A few seconds later, Greg hands Pa a towel and he wipes his hands with it. When he is done, he looks at Greg and inquires,

“What is the meaning of what you just did? Are you ready for the consequences of your actions? The last time I asked, you refused profusely, saying you weren’t ready.”

Greg nods his head and puts his hands back into his pockets, the bloodstains still unwashed on his face and he replies,

“The last time I heard you planned to retire and the next person you wanted to replace you was Alfred. I do not agree so to stop this from coming to pass, I had to take up my responsibilities to you. So this family doesn’t fall into the gutters.”

Pa smiles and nods his head, he walks towards him and taps him on his shoulder and he says to him,

“Well done!! Son, I trust you and your intuition.”

“Yes, Pa, allow me to do all the quiet time work, I don’t want you to affect your health with insignificant things.” Greg replies steadfastly, his mind plays an image but he doesn’t pay attention to it.

Pa makes his way out of the room but then he looks at the sack and licks his lips smeared with blood and his elongated fore teeth draw to their normal shape. Then he says,

His heart is still breathing, finish him off and come to my office, I have something to discuss with you.”

Without any hesitation, Greg removes a knife from his long boot and walks to the sack, his fore teeth drawing out longer and his eyes turning red. He reaches the sack and slices it open and a body falls to the ground. He walks to it and takes his head in his hand, and in a second, he slices his neck. The blood sprinkles to his face but he isn’t fazed, he rather gets up and licks the blood on his hand. He inhales sharply and cleans the blood on his hair. He looks in the way of the door and sees Pa nodding his head approvingly.
