I asked him, all because I wanted to look reasonable and caring. “She's alright”. He replied to me, but that was all. He didn't mention anything else concerning his mother to me. And I was smart enough not to mention anything again concerning his mother. I didn't want to ruin his moments with me. Suddenly, Nathan made me let go of his waist and held my hands while staring into my eyes.

The trance broke when the voice of his mother fell upon his ears. Ami Jones, his loving eomma, rubbed both of his arms with a smile that never lost its warmth. "You don't need to do this if you feel afraid or burdened. Wanna go home, sweetie?", she asked gently. Nathan shook his head as he held his mother's hand, bringing them up to kiss her palms.

I stood up carefully, my hand holding my side. “Try not to bleed on the seats,” Nathan muttered as we walked to the car, I elbowed him lightly. “Drive.” I told him as we settled in the car, he frowned but didn't say anything. Back home, the house was quiet. It seems alpha Matthews had convinced my mum not to worry so much, so she went to bed.
