With a sharp, searing pain, an arrow lodged itself in his throat. Gurgling on his own blood, the man stared at me in disbelief. He had observed my quiver's emptiness, so the sudden appearance of the arrow perplexed him—where had it come from? I yanked the arrow out of the man's throat and shook off the remaining blood. In the night's darkness, the arrow emitted a soft, ethereal blue glow—a manifestation known to the locals as the aura arrow.

He smiled. It was all hit and duck, play and game until he got enthused and pulled off his shirt, casting it at the roaring audience. I stilled, my vision reddening. The dark red tattoo of an arrow piercing an animal skull on his shoulder mugged all my attention. It was a tattoo I could never pass into oblivion. A tattoo that only hunters wore. Defiance was the only word blazing through my mind. Red and hot. I had him by the throat up against a post. "Why do you have the hunter's tattoo?"

I rode to catch up with him as we reached deep and deeper into the forest. Almost immediately, I sighted a deer eating silently. It definitely didn’t realize our presence as we came down from the horse quietly. We both took our arrow from our back carefully. His arrow was coated with blue while, my own was coated with black. I targeted the deer very well, taking note as I shot it. I silently felt overwhelmed when I saw a second arrow on the deer. It was Zack’s. he had gotten the shot too. “Did we just get a draw?” we same in unison pointing to each other.

I really did not want to feel weak ever again. My parents totally thought I was crazy when I decided to get a few tattoos. Osric answers while sitting on the edge of the lounge near Raven’s head making her smile. “How are you doing? It’s a big tattoo, you hurting yet?” I question, looking down at her hip to see the raven in red ink at the top of her hip taking up almost her entire thigh. The tattoo is very cool, the Raven is in a defensive attack position and made of knots like you would see in old Norse temples. “Enjoying talking to these guys, and getting to know Ares a bit better, it stings when it’s right over the bone but not bad,” Raven admits while looking down at the tattoo gun pressing against her skin, as Ares works on the dark red outline.
