"Who are you and could anyone tell me what I am doing here!?" Huh!! My voice seemed strange! It sounded like a female! It's baffling! Confusion on my mind but the faces that are regarding me looked startled too. The handsome doctor approached me with familiarity. He is older than the rest, I know that he holds an important position and the younger ones are probably in their first year. He checked on me then I heard him say "I'm Dr. Peter Bennett, you had a fall and you are being treated here at Grayer Hospital." He is intently watching my face and I can feel the others are doing the same like I'm a lab rat.

He smiles at me and leans over to kiss me just as the door opens and an older lady in white lab coat moves in . "Miss Ruffle?" she confirms. I nod and smile at her. "Hi,I'm Doctor Grey. I'll be your OBGYN until you have your baby. Now would you like to follow me to my office?" She asks us kindly. We get up and went after her down the hall and into a large room. She takes a seat beside the computer and motions for me to lie down on the bed beside it. I felt nervous as I compel my nerves to stay calm. I look around the office and notice how nice it was decorated. Trying to be distract myself.

"Hi Avatia, it's really nice meeting you." The girl furrowed her brows. "Who are you?" The doctor expected the question. "I'm your new doctor. My name is Nathaniel Guzman. But you can call me Nathan." He told her with a sweet smile. He needed to show her so much love because that was part of her therapy. "Let's go in now, shall we? I made hot coffee. You'll be staying in the East wing and I'll be in the South wing. I hope you do not mind."

Then I put on my coat the way I always did when I needed to feel like a doctor instead of a woman barely holding herself together. No new calls. No packages waiting outside my door. Nothing moving on the security cameras that shouldn’t be there. Whoever had sent the finger wasn’t finished. They were either very patient… or very confident. The thought made a cold knot tighten in my stomach. I suspected both. I was in the medical bay at eleven AM when my phone rang. Not an unknown number this time. A number I recognized. A number I had deleted two years ago and apparently still knew by heart, because my body reacted before my mind could catch up.

On the outside looking in at his own life falling apart. People were moving around them. Doctors and nurses rushing past. Other patients being wheeled through. The organized chaos of a hospital emergency room at night. But Grayson barely noticed any of it. His entire world had narrowed down to Shayla and that pregnant belly and all the questions he could not stop asking himself. The emergency room doors swung open with a loud whoosh. A doctor walked out. Older man. Late fifties maybe early sixties. Wearing surgical scrubs that were covered in blood. Fresh blood, still wet. Ayven's blood.

Emma cleared her voice, elbowing Jillian, realizing the doctor was in no mood for jokes right now, “She’s a new patient. Name’s Selena Chase. 24 years old. Looks perfectly healthy. Didn't say why she wanted to see you and only you.” Cassandra stopped right away when her eyes landed on that patient, making both Jillian and Emma clumsily crash against her back. She stared at the woman and Selena simply grinned at her. Cassandra firmly said, noticing the victorious smile splayed on her face, “Leave that one to me.” “Huh? Are you sure?” Jillian asked in puzzlement, a bit surprised. “Yes.” Jillian pursed her lips as Emma pushed her outside, “Come on. Let's go. The doctor has spoken.”
