He said gently.
“Yeah, yeah. I'm just tired that's all. I'll just go take a nap for a few minutes.” I tried to sound non-chalant and hoped I succeeded. I turned around to go to my room and he didn't stop me.
I wouldn't need much. A few change of clothes, shoes, clean underwear. My books weren't important anymore. Anything that had to do with New Dowell wasn't. I had a passport. A couple of them actually, along with a couple of fake IDs. I'd always entertained the possibility of starting life over in another country under a different identity. So far, I only used the fake IDs to get into clubs in secret, but I always knew they would come in handy.
