My critique is that the art in Vol. 2 feels rushed in places, especially the backgrounds in the Italy scenes. Still, it's worth it for the Volturi designs alone. Aro looks fantastically creepy.

The supporting Cullens get less 'screen time'. Esme's quiet sorrow, Carlisle's concern—these are background details in the art if you look for them. The novel gives them more lines, more specific comforting actions. In the comic, they are often just... present in a room. Their family dynamic is less fleshed out because the format focuses on moving Bella's story forward. You feel their absence as a unit.

Let’s be real, the breakup in the book is peak teenage melodrama, and the graphic novel leans into that visually. Edward’s parting words are in these sharp, jagged speech bubbles, contrasting with Bella’s small, frail ones. The scene in the forest has this dramatic, almost theatrical staging, with shadows and angles making Edward look more like a statue than a person. It doesn’t shy away from the operatic sadness of it all; if anything, it amplifies it. Some might find it over-the-top, but for the tone of ‘New Moon,’ it’s kinda perfect.
