My cheeks were wet with hot tears. I forced myself to my feet and clenched my fists. My feet dug into the ground, my jaw clenched and I had a thousand colorful words to say but I stuck to the same sentence as I dragged my feet towards the mirror. “Could you not pick someone else?” I asked again, this time, I could hear my words. “Could you not freaking pick someone else!” I snapped and slammed the mirror with my steel hair brush. It shattered before me and I saw myself in the millions of pieces that shattered on the ground, I fell to the ground, I could feel the shards dig into my skin and I grabbed one.

“Ms. Nicki has so many scars on her back!” As Mable walked to the bed, the scars on Nicki’s back were clear to see. At a glance, Mable recognized the scars to be from a whip. Some were deep, and others were shallow. Some of the scars were old, but some were still pinkish. The most serious scar was probably from three or four months ago. Although Grace did not like Nicki very much, she was stunned to see the scars all over the little girl’s body. “Who’s so cruel to abuse a child?”
