My eyes move back to Callaghan, his hand curled around the glass of whiskey he’d poured himself, the amber liquid catching the light. I could feel the whiskey was already telling on him. The burn of it going down was nowhere near the comfort, he thought he could have from that. He took another slow sip, his eyes scanning the room, watching as Caldwell still tried to pacify the crowd so as not to sing.
“Come on, Caldwell! You’ve got a great voice, don’t be shy!” Nicole teased, her eyes bright with mischief. I shake my head, Nicole was one hell of trouble for Caldwell.
