"I heard that your name was Raphael. Was I correct?" Raphael knitted his brows but didn't answer. Nevertheless, Maureen still smiled at him gently and patted his head.

Two days letter, Raphael found himself back in the vaults, opening the cell his mate was kept in and trudging inside with a tray of food. Instantly, their heads jerked up to meet his, especially his mate who looked like she had seen an apparition. Raphael took his chances to get closer as he noticed Reuben was fast asleep. He squatted and hoisted the tray towards her. "What are you doing??" Evelyn snarled and her aghast gaze swerved into a glare.

The look in his eyes was intense, and for a moment, I felt like I was staring into the face of a stranger, a man who was capable of things I couldn't even imagine. Raphael's expression softened, and he gently took the pitcher from me, pouring himself a glass of water. I watched, mesmerized, as he handed the pitcher back to me, his eyes never leaving mine.
