With that I fell into a deep slumber. I woke up with a pain in my neck,it wasn't easy sleeping on the bare floor. Also it seemed I had caught a cold, I sneezed and my eyes watered. Lucian POV The digital clock on the mahogany nightstand glowed a sharp, steady red. 2:00 AM. The penthouse was dead silent, dark except for the thin beams of city moonlight cutting through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Beside me, Orion was a massive, warm weight under the heavy duvet. His breathing was slow and deep, the steady rise and fall of his chest a familiar rhythm that usually brought instant sleep. Instead, a sudden, violent spark of friction ignited deep inside my pelvis.

Damian's pov I walked out of the walk-in closet, fastening my wristwatch. As I shifted slightly, I spotted sprawled on the edge of my bed, her dark hair cascading over the sheets like a waterfall of shadows. The confusion on her face as she stirred awake. It was a sight I had come expect but still found oddly endearing. "Nora's already headed to school. You can sleep in," I said, my voice low and husky, cutting through the morning stillness. The way she shuddered at the sound made something stir within me.

Nighttime is when we are supposed to sleep, to restore and fuel our bodies for the adventures and necessary tasks of the next day. A time when the body relaxes and we can drift away, leaving our problems with the sandman. That’s impossible when the nightmares wake you up, screaming at four o’clock in the morning. Thankfully, Owen was there. As always, he was my lifeline, my saving grace. He pulled me from the darkness of my mind, letting me know that I was awake and safe in his arms.
