Americans who had committed to the “Fangs Are Welcome” movement had filmed LIGHTS members destroying Vampires who refused to go and used the footage to cause upheaval amongst those who were not sure. They’d edited and modified the videos to make it look gruesome, replacing ash with blood, faking scenes where children were slaughtered. The entire situation was awful, and it was then that her father had lost the last small grip he had had on sanity amongst the citizens of the United States.

"Mom, what're you doing?" "Designing a game." I forced a smile. "But Dad said your games are boring." He blinked at me. "Dad's company makes the fun ones." That was when I realized ChaseTech had nowhere left for me. I left and quietly started my own studio. After countless failures, I secretly created Eternal Nightmare. Theo had started forming his own opinions. And while I buried myself in work, I spent less and less time with him. He leaned harder toward Adrian, slowly picking up his father's contempt for me.

After that, Marcus stopped trying. Marcus had been convicted of fraud. Nothing violent. He was forty-one, with the tired face of a man who had spent his life avoiding trouble. Prison was supposed to be a brief stop, a lesson. But on his very first night, the nightmares began. From his very first day in prison, Marcus began having nightmares, always the same dream. He dreamed he was walking down a pitch-black alley. The walls were damp, the air thick with the smell of rotting fruit. Far ahead, a single streetlamp flickered, casting a weak yellow circle on the ground. Beneath that light stood a woman in a red dress. Her back was to him. Her hair was long and black, hanging like a curtain. And

She was never going to surrender to him; he bought her, but he couldn't buy her life. She was going to make sure she made his life a living nightmare. She was going to make him regret ever buying her and let her go. Yes, he was going to release her himself when he got tired of her. She grinned; he didn't know what he bought. He had just purchased a nightmare, and that nightmare was hers.

I asked, squinting my eyes trying to get a glimpse of the stranger. “Oh please I know more than your name bunny, I know everything about you” he said taking two more steps. “So you are a stalker then, how long have you been stalking me?” I panicked as I took more steps back. “I’m not a stalker bunny, I’m your nightmare” the voice said and just like the wind he disappeared into the shadows like he was never there, my heart sank into my stomach as his last words echoed in my head. I’m your nightmare.

I close my eyes. The game is over. But the nightmare? The nightmare has only just begun.
