He surged forward, his silver fur glowing as he clamped his jaws onto the Chimera’s thick neck, using every ounce of his Alpha strength to hold the thrashing nightmare still. Torin sprinted forward, leaping onto the beast’s back. He slammed the Sonic Disruptor directly into the cluster of eyes and thumbed the activation switch. The high-frequency shriek was deafening. The Chimera’s entire body began to vibrate, its kinetic-dampening cells fighting against the resonance. It let out a sound that wasn't a roar, but a mechanical scream of agony.

How can they have so many lights and not hear the song? The song they sing is sad. It calls to me, begging for release. They want to die. They all want to die. I hear you. I am coming. The sonic wave was forcing the quartz plates in their fur to vibrate at a lethal frequency. I watched in horror as hairline fractures began to form along their armored spines. Silas was trying to shatter them from the inside out. Killian roared, fighting against the crushing pressure of the soundwave. He dug his claws into the earth, his silver eyes locking onto the lead truck. He could not reach it in time. The sonic field was too dense, acting like a physical wall of agony.

My fingers loosened against NightSword and it clattered away from me. Eryndor’s eyes were dilated, his canines dripping saliva as he dove for the sword, picking it up with a feral grin. He raised it above my head as I watched in horror. NO!, NightSword screamed in my head, in protest at being wielded by one not bonded to him. My ears popped and my vision was lost again as a powerful sonic blast emerged from the ancient weapon, a beam of energy spiraling outwards and slamming into Eryndor.

I try one last time to swipe my paw at Cosmo, but it's too late, my limbs no longer work, my body fully subdued beneath his growling form. This was my end. A chilling nightmare, woven from the darkest threads of despair and dread. A cruel fate bestowed on me. The last sound I hear is my mother calling my name. “Soni…” And I genuinely pray for the fi rst time in my very short life that she keeps calling my name like that. Please call my name. Please call my name. Please call my name… But then the world goes entirely black.

Even if she tried singing again to use her Sirenic power, they would not hear her as I had apparently burst all their ear drums. Luckily for both Vampires and Lenoras they had healing powers so their ear drum were going to heal or we would have ended up having permanently deaf Vampires and Lenoras.
